Its the HHH vs Batista conversation people had in 2005

They were planning on making Randy Orton by having him be the one that dethrones HHH

But Batista/Hunter got so over that they went with that as the main event and had Big Dave win instead just because the crowd wanted it

I feel like even if Cody wasn't around, he wasn't going to win.

Because you ended Roman's undefeated streak against a guy who was wrestling Johnny Knoxville the previous year and had no major wins otherwise.

Sami was probably never supposed to face Roman as he only interacted with the Usos, but the whole thing got so over that they didn't really have a choice.

All things considered, Sami is a legitimate main eventer now because of this match as opposed to a chicken shit comic relief heel, so he's really just one push away from a world title.

I think everyone knew Sami was a flash in the pan. The Bloodline story elevated him and probably saved his career but they aren't going to dethrone a long-time champ at the PPV before Mania. They just don't do that shit any more.
