>>13729694AEW does 3 basic storylines: I want the title, we're friends and I'm the best wrestler
I don't care much for Kip Sabian, but his box-head thing was at least interesting
Toni Storm/Mariah May, Soho/Angelo, there's potential but not enough depth and follow-through
Tony Khan has watched too much NJPW and been to too many indy wrestling shows, and that more than anything -- more than being from a billionaire family, even -- has made him out of touch. TK can relate to normal people just fine, during his pressers he sounds like a guy you'd totally want to kick it with and talk Football, Wrestling, Women, Cars, whatever. But when it comes to building his wrestling shows, my perception is that he'd rather lose $300 million being NJPW USA instead of being WWE with longer match times and less pee-pee/poo-poo humor.
The formula is right there. But Tony would rather give Shane Taylor 14 minutes against a HOF talent, because feelings. He knows what sells, he knows what's the most fun -- crowd chants, singing along to entrance music, etc -- but NJPW doesn't do that so he doesn't want it in AEW either, even if it means lower attendance, decreased ratings and waning popularity. Insanely frustrating.
