"Fake tough guy" is the entirety of wrestling
When a wrestler starts to believe they're a real fake tough guy they have only two options:
>Win their fights or at least impress against top opposition, like Brock and to a degree Bobby>Lose and bury themselves as the fakest fake tough guy who is also delusional, stop the posturings immediately and apologiseThere's no shame in competing in combat sports, but if they were serious they'd have respect and humility. Punk at least mostly ditched the "I'm a MMA badass" stuff after losing, Moxley hasn't. He has zero humility despite being humbled, he still puts out an illusion that has been broken entirely.
Inokiism ruined NJPWs cred for a generation of wrestlers and they were going in against guys like Cro Cop, you cannot continue to be the big I am legit badass if you get beaten by amateurs or cans, gain humility, gain discipline, gain a good attitude, get a clue. That's why they're clowned on, it's the equivalent of the drunk fatass in a bar getting knocked on his ass repeatedly and insisting he's totally the badass. Don't talk the talk if you can't walk the walk, and don't put yourself in a position to be exposed if your job is built on image.
