I realize it's a meme but WWE also has seat fillers, even during sold out shows. From a production standpoint it makes a lot of sense. The purpose of seat fillers are to take the seats of people who are on camera who leave so the first few rows don't appear empty on camera. I actually did it twice for WWE, in 2006 and I think it was 2008. Don't recall anyone having to move to actually fill a seat during those shows. There weren't many fillers, like 20 or so. They were comp tickets, I got them from my friend who was the head of PR at the venue. Some of the other seat fillers I recognized as wrestlers/personalities from local indies. So at least at the shows I went to you head to know somebody to get in that way. Wish I kept the paper the WWE person gave us backstage before taking our seats, it was just general guidelines.
Anyway I'd imagine it's still much the same process today for WWE and AEW.
