People shit on 2019 WWE as if 2021 wasn't even worse with the strings of bad PPVs they were on, it wasn't until Mania 37 and Summerslam later that year that WWE finally recovered a bit. People seem to forget that at one point people genuinely thought AEW would beat WWE because the product had gotten so bad

Only reason I remember this match happening is because the entire year before this all anyone said was how Roman was going over Brock at the next WrestleMania an that it was a guarantee so when it didn't happen that was midly surprising I guess

They were pushing Braun all year with the feats of strength stuff. He dominated the Elimination Chamber until Roman came in at the end and won it. They fucked over Braun, who was hot at the time, to give the match to Roman, who was Vince's Golden boy.

It was actually Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho in NJPW that convinced Tony there was a possible market for an alternative. I’ll always credit those two and Tony for AEW, not the Bucks or Cody.
