>>13797934Its complicated and I've posted about this a few times, but the Nepali Government control the route that almost everybody climbs when they attempt to summit, and they have certain rules about who they allow.
Everest like many of the Nepali high peaks are very seasonable and your window could only be a few days to attempt the peak.
Unfortunately, before you are legally allowed to attempt the summit of Everest, the Nepalis require you to have already climbed one of their other very high peaks. It's not really feasible to do them both in one season, especially for a novice climber due to the weather. This is why anybody who knows a little bit about this world thought they'd just go to Base Camp - because even with the hand holding of adventures companies and how pathetically easy they make it for paypigs, you still cannot circumvent the Nepali laws.
And 1 week before his Everest attempt, which every mountaineering enthusiast have been trying to explain couldn't happen for legal reasons (among many reasons), he suddenly comes up with a reason why he can't attempt it.
