Not even close. The Rock was by far the bigger star when this happened. Also Hogan was like the biggest star in wrestling like 5 years prior. He wasn’t retired for 20 years.

It's the same in literally every industry. Why do you think Hollywood is obsessed with remaking movies from 20+ years ago? The human race is addicted to nostalgia. We all have an ingrained belief in us that things were objectively better when we were kids. And our own kids will feel the same way, looking back fondly on the good old days of today.

These guys were just different. Rock has enough charisma to take over wrestling and also Hollywood. He's not just some guy from the 90s-00s. He's one of the most charismatic people to live in the modern era. We don't have guys like this today. No wrestler has the Rock's level of charisma. They can get over with the wrestling crowd but they're not stars.

That's not entirely true. There are eras in any medium that are objectively better. When I was watching back in the 90s I didn't think wrestling from the 60s, 70s was better than the current product. Back then I knew I was watching the peak of this thing called "wrestling". I thought it was only going to get better, but then it didn't. It only got worse.

I haven't watched modern WWE in 5+ years, but I'm on the network and constatly rewatch 90s - 10s wrestling because it was objectively better, more gritty and all wrestlers were strictly better than today's trashcans in WWE, AEW or whatever fed you pick.
