>>13821746I think it's mainly a question of conditioning the audience. Someone like Gunther can finish with anything and it's kind of his thing, so people expect him to win with powerbomb, splash, crab, lariat, sleeper, he even won with a chop once.
If everyone wrestled like that you'd lose part of what makes wrestling wrestling in its current state. The reason finishing moves are so popular is because they carry a narrative function (once you hit it, the match is probably over, so tension is created around that) and they're usually the coolest move in the wrestler's moveset, so, like entrances, they're what the live crowd pays to see when they buy a ticket (-> audience conditioning).
Personally I'll accept anything as long as it functions as the climax of the match and doesn'r contradict the narrative
