If you look at the two fights, and the build up, Punk started out delusional.

And, although punk got taken down within about two seconds in that fight, he held on, fought back and actually did better.
His second fight against Jackson was THE easiest fight anyone has ever been handed in UFC. But because his delusion had been shattered in the first fight, he approached it completely differently. He turns up to that second fight like a small school kid who knows he's about to get his shit kicked in in front of the whole school. Didn't even cut his hair, so he was fighting with his fringe getting in his eyes more than he was fighting Jackson.
