Man I used to work in a mill ~1999 and shit was so fucking loud in there that I would wear ear buds under my earpro and listen to Art while working graveyard. I would just sort of fall into a rhythm of pulling the lumber off of the belt and stacking it so much that I was on autopilot. During those times I would be listening to Art and it was like my mind and body were in two completely different places. It could make a shift go by so quick that it would be morning before I knew it.

Dude was like 60 at the time. This isn't implausible. Also, if you believe he wasnt murdered (book's out for me), he had a cocktail of narcotics and soma in his system, so there may have been prescription pill abuse involved which would have prevented him from waking up.
