>>1386117797 was the perfect combination of everything that makes pro wrestling great.
You had two top guys who legit hated each other and would cut unscripted worked shoots on each other every Monday night.
You had a very clear new generation of talent like Austin, Rock, HHH, Kane, and Shamrock.
You had a long overarching storyline throughout the year of patriotism, and faction warfare.
Everything has a real, and grungy feel to it. There's no giant LEDs and perfect lighting. It feels like a wrestling show on TV and not a TV show about wrestling.
You had amazing promos from guys like Foley or Rock who used them to ditch or change their gimmicks.
And they rode the edgy fuck off attitude of the time perfectly with things like the Headbangers or NAO
And while all this was going on you still had just enough, the exact right amount, of terrible putrid dogshit, like The Patriot, or the never fucking ending Los Borricuas vs DOA feud or intionally corny shit like Dude Love, to still make all the edgyness and greatness pop out in comparison.
By 99 when they were in full crash TV mode the entire thing felt flanderized.
