At the time people were selling that kick like it was a shotgun blast, and then HHH basically no sold it. Even in the edited version you can still see HHH's arm come in to frame and try to break up the pin though.
For the Cena thing it's just straight up revisionist history. They want people to think that Cena was a universally beloved figure. The real pop was better though because you could hear people processing things in real time. First going apeshit because it was Cena, then realizing "WTF its Cena, we hate Cena" and booing him like crazy. I've always thought that one pop sort of perfectly encapsulated what made him so fun back then.
But then they just edited out the boos lol
