>>13873286 Like I'm not hating on Okada for taking the money, but realistically, what did people expect? The reason I put Lex there is to show that with a dumb enough facial hair and presentation, NXT managed make something out of Pillman Jr. that has already gotten a considerable following within the fan base - literally making something out of nothing where AEW makes nothing out of supposedly something big., this is the kinda effort and branding AEW desperately needs if it wants to grow an audience.
>Big in japan, wooo-o, big in japanThe idea that you'd literally have to be invested in multiple companies and devote headspace and time to even know why you should care about Okada if you are a average ameriburger tv viewer that isn't like the terminally online smarks or the guys in the locker room who prop him up because they are buddies is just absurd.
>Bucks tried to bridge it but its not enoughNot overtly hating on the Bucks either, they are trying to sell him as big deal in wrestling from the clips I've seen but they aren't fucking good at doing so because they never were good at talking to begin with.
>AEW has made sure every NPJW hire is a literal nobody by the end of 3rd month. Because Tony hires them based on some online buzz and backstage recommendation not what is gonna look on tv or make waves of any kind by building them up in TV. This is a proven track record hampered and totally lost talent.
Okadas probably a really good wrestler but the vast majority of wrestling fans don't know the difference between yummy Meltzer star match and a generally good match anyway so if they don't prop them up anyway or present them in anything special to the viewers it will stay as just some guy. Happens all the time, because they are catering to their dwindling fanbase of smarketysmarks who are there to analyze moves and sequences in a match and not watching a show about wrestling.
