Gunther's promo/character work has been some of the best in WWE over the last few months
I think everyone's biggest concern with Gunther coming to the main roster was his character and promo work. He never felt too convincing outside of a ring and it was the main thing keeping me from believing he'd be a long term main event talent.
However, he caught my eye when he was doing a promo on Drew McIntyre in the lead up to their match at Summerslam; there was a cadence, a purpose and a believability that wasn't there before. He had a goal with his promo and perfectly stuck to the story he was telling (that Drew has failed at every big opportunity he's been given since 2020 and that he'll fail again at Summerslam). Ever since that, his improvement has been unbelievable.
His promos with the Miz only exemplified this. The way he highlighted Miz' utter failures getting into the system while he thrived and how convincingly he sold the idea that he didn't think much of the Miz at all; Gunther perfectly embodied the persona he was acting out as, a ring general who had no time for people like the Miz who treated it like a Hollywood set. Gunther also perfectly sold his changing mindset throughout this feud, slowly but surely growing respect for the Miz despite proving to be a superior competitor.
