It's kind of ridiculous how little the average American knows about it. Especially those that live geographically closer to it than the rest of the USA they know way more about. It's almost twice as far from Indiana to California as it is from Indiana to Mexico, yet the average person from that state probably knows next to nothing about Mexico.
