the last 3 2K games have been great but I will admit I think as great as the rosters have been we could use even more legends, I never play with the NXT roster really, mostly just people I know from growing up or discovering in the classics, like Kane or Razor Ramon. CAWs can go a long way too but there is definitely something missing when you have to force an announcer name that sounds wonky. Even though No Mercy lacked some of the features later titles improved on, things like branching storylines would be nice to have back again. I am also not super interested in the modern roster, whereas in Raw 2 on the Xbox as a kid I used almost anyone at some point, even the jobbers

Agree with OP. But will also so half of what makes 2K actually good is how great a lot of the community creations are. There are a lot that look like they're actual wrestlers or arenas that were in the game already. Face scans are based.

Fire Pro has a gorillion iterations through the years and people are happy enough with that. Just make an AKI clone.

Refresh my memory but Revenge didn't have a story mode did it? For that alone I'd rank it No Mercy>WM 2000>WCW Revenge. I like all 3 but Revenge and 2000 were the prototypes for NM.

Im the only person mentioning hctp which to me based on it massive season mode as well as its roster just even on those merits make it one of if not the greatest wrestling game ever. Everything else with cake toppings.

How hard is it to get a branching set of storylines as massive or even bigger than ps2.
I still dont know how many different title, tag title, stable, you vs. Authority, chasing the belt, defending the belt all the side fights in the locker.
Why did a fucking ps2 game in 2002 or 3 go so hard no other game since dared to make that kind of season mode

It isn't. Also if it's the one all the others were built off of then that means it's been expanded on since. I prefer WM2000 to No Mercy. But I'm not going to sit here and lie and try and make people think it's "better" when it's just my preference. No Mercy is the most feature-heavy game on that engine. The gameplay alone has things you couldn't do in WM2000, the WCW ones, or VPW2. VPW2 is the pretentious weeb smark choice

Fight Forever’s story mode was shit because all of the storylines were either generic or ripped from a comic book. No Mercy actually had interesting stories, some of them loosely based on irl storylines of the past year (the “main” storyline if you keep winning is literally The Rock building up to WM2000 four way for example)
