Back in the day, heels and babyfaces had separate locker rooms and would come out of their locker rooms for the matches and interviews.
In studio-format wrestling this component was retained by having them come through tunnels "allegedly leading to the separate locker rooms".
In AEW though, everyone comes through gorilla position, and every viewer and audience member knows it.
The tunnels are supposed to present the illusion, but without legitimacy there is no illusion. It's just a fucking joke.
