Continental Championship
>Is wrestled under Continental Classic rules, i.e. no seconds at ringside.
>The champion enters the Continental Classic and has to win to retain the championship.
>Has more of a "sports" atmosphere to it. Before title defenses, they have a couple of the backstage interviewers do quick segments talking about the contestants' mentality going into the match, sort of like a sideline interview.
International Championship
>Was supposed to have an international gimmick, but just kind of become a midcard title that was defended a lot.
The International Championship definitely needs something to give it a stronger identity. I remember reading an interview with Suzuki once where he said NJPW's Intercontinental Championship should only be contested between two guys from different continents. I dunno how hard that'd be to do in practice, though. But I think they've actually done a really good job making the Continental Championship feel distinct.
