it wasn't competitive at all. Both Cena and Punk destroyed him badly. Rock barely had any chance. If he hadn't had his attitude era background and was an actual new guy, he would've been buried out of the industry back then.

Both Cena and Punk also work handicapped by PG era. If Cena would've been allowed to do an unrestricted 2003 Thuganomics rap back in 2012, he would've killed Rock death. Also, as Punk clearly showed on past Monday, Rock isn't the only guy who can curse and make controversial comebacks when allowed.

CM Punk wasn’t limited in AEW and his promos were mid AF over there. Promos aren't fucking battle raps or presidential debates. Rock knew he was a bigger star than Cena and Punk and let them talk shit without burying them back because he didn't want to outshine them. Punk's "your arms are too short" line was awkward as fuck with Rock towering over him, and Rock could've just patted him on the head like a kid if he really wanted to fuck with him. It's a fucking work.
