If these two pieces of shit remained on top in 1998, WCW would've won the war. Thankfully, Austin, Vince, Tyson, Rock, Foley, Taker, Kane, and Sable saved everything.
>Inb4 B-But Bret and Shawn's feud with Austin made him
Bret has admitted that Austin would've gotten over regardless of who he wrestled with at WM 13, and Shawn acted like a sissy girl throwing a tempter tantrum at the WM 14 press conference because he knew his time was over. The Montreal Screwjob was a good thing, and Shawn injuring his back was also a good thing. Fuck them both.
Also, Shawn vs Bret is the worst WM main event in history and it's not even close. Even Sid vs Taker drew a better gate despite the lower buyrate. Taker was also a better champion in '97. Ratings went up briefly in late April-May '97 during Taker and Austin's program, thus proving that putting them together would draw numbers. Ratings went back down around the Summer time when Bret was being pushed to be WWF Champion and doing his cringe skits with Shawn that most people were sick of. They wouldn't go back up until after the Screwjob, because people knew Austin's time was close.
>WrestleMania XII: Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels - WWF Championship, Attendance: 18,852 ($737,440)
>WrestleMania 13: The Undertaker vs Sycho Sid - WWF Championship, Attendance: 18,197 ($837,150)
