What it actually did was kill the indies and inflate salaries to the point that any other fed but WWE has more difficulty putting together a roster, and keeping talent. All of that unironically helps WWE, since the chance of anyone finding, and developing major talent is harder and by extension feds have more difficulty defining themselves through their talent. WWE has since pivoted away from depending on the indies for talent, instead using raw athletes to build up from the ground up. Other feds used the indies to find talent and now they are fucked because Tony will just sign people for money that they have not earned and no sane company would match.
