It was a five minute promo that got the crowd way more hyped up than starting with a cold match and has had all of you piggies squealing on here and all over social media for hours. I'd say they made the right choice

The only time he even mentioned the competition was to mention watching WWF as a kid in the '80s and then reprimand the crowd for instinctively booing because that wasn't his point. He didn't go out there to run down WWE, he went out there to promote AEW.

Is it really repeating the same mistakes when literally every promotion from WWF/WWE, AEW, WCW, ECW, TNA, etc have all done it? Or is it just part of what comes with running a competing promotion?

It depends who and where they're aiming. If you're punching up it's never going to hurt you. If you're the promotion punching down, like WCW was when it came back to bite them in the ass, then you are only giving your competition needless exposure at your own expense. AEW stands nothing to lose taking shots at WWE because any shots WWE takes in return only risk them raising awareness of AEW. This wasn't even a shot taken tonight. Or if it was it was the friendly, most feel-good attempt at one I've ever seen
