ive been playing smackdown 2's season mode the last week and its been pretty interesting. won the wwe belt with paul bear and tried to win the womans title with the kat but it never gave me championship matches. and currently am playing as christian for the light-heavy belt or cruiserweight or whatever its called belt.

SD2 season mode is goated. Smackdown games after it had way too linear season modes. I get in SYM and HCTP you can request title shots and even choose your partner for tag titles, but in the end you get stuck in a per-determined story. SD2 was so much better. Shame about all the loading and simulating matches though.

My favorite career mode is unironically Wrestling Empire
>can customize everything and everyone
>can free roam with a day/night sycle where you have to make it to you match on time
>can drink beer with the boys at the bar in free roam
>can beat the shit out of anyone for no reason in free roam
>can shoot kill people by throwing them onto the subway train tracks (useful if you want a title shot and the champion is dodging you)
Gameplay is also crazy fun once you get used to the controls. One example of something that surprised me was me seeing an opponent going to the top rope, then me going for a springboard attack, which resulted in me jumping off the ropes and hitting a frankensteiner on the top rope opponent right into a pin for the 3 count. shit was really satisfying to pull off.
That said, I still have barely any fucking idea how the reversals and submissions work in this game. A lot of time it just feels like luck mixed with the amount of skill points the wrestler has.

The loading times are a bit better thru emulation. Doesnt take as long and so I dont mind. I still get annoyed at the simming of matches when sd1 did it auto by default and skip. would prefer a slightly faster pace. here is a rare cutscene for people to see the 4 allies walking to jump someone cutscene

This thread inspired me to get DuckStation and Smackdown 2 Inspired Mod 1.3 and start a season mode. Not sure who to play as but I'm thinking Stone Cold. Luckily he's already unlocked in the mod.

if you use duckstation you can always just bind a FAST Forward button and use that during load times and simmed matches

If I had the ability id rip a game from WWF Attitude, make the controls more modern, build a vast back stage area like HCTP and SYM, make sure the creation suite is endless so the community can make absolutely anyone or anything.

idk what controller you use but if you happen to use a ps4 controller, the big ass middle pad button works great
