It was meant to be Cody & Punk vs Rock & Roman. That’s why Cody and Punk were last 2 in the rumble. Punk was supposed to be jealous of Cody and mad he had to share the main event with him and turn heel after Mania.

This tag match seems like it was kind of thrown together to give The Rock a match. My guess is Rock and Roman win on Night 1 to make Cody seem like more of an underdog going in to Night 2. Then on Night 2, The Rock turns on Roman and Cody wins the belt. This sets up for Rock vs Roman next year.

This is what I'm expecting to happen if they're gonna have Cody win. Not the rock turning on Roman shit but for roman and rock to win night 1 so it makes the odds even more "insurmountable" for cody so he can win night 2. Which would be good story telling. So basically if Cody/Seth win on Night 1 it's completely over for Cody.

The Tag match wasn’t supposed to happen at all.
All roads were supposed to lead to Rock vs Reigns with no explanation, just consumption.

I imagine if everything went as it was supposed to, Cody was probably going to face Gunther for the IC, and Seth was definitely going to fight Punk.
No way was Brock/Gunther ever in the plans despite everyone crying about it. I always doubted that these two were ever going to meet in a one on one match.

My only problem is Bloodline Rules situation. Since like 90% of Roman's defenses have been cheap wins due to outside interference from the Bloodline, wouldn't it thematically make more sense to have Roman finally lose when he doesn't have any outside help to depend on and it shows he's a paper champion? Instead, I'm assuming what we're going to get is an overbooked clusterfuck full of run-ins and Cody winning via interference, starting his championship run looking weak because he had to resort to cheating to beat Roman.
