>>14063064Shibata knows how to work a match.
His body isn't capable of working his proper style anymore.
AEW don't understand why Shibatas style got over, same as Suzuki. Most smarks do not actually understand either Strong Style or King's Road - they do move spam head drops calling it American/British strong style and think mindless strike exchange spam is storytelling. They have consumed Japanese wrestling in isolation - match highlights MVs (ie spot spam) or isolated matches without ever watching full shows over a long period, and more importantly, watching BEFORE their favourite period to understand how it got there.
A golden piece of advice I once got was "If you want to be like your heroes, look to their heroes". They developed their style by taking inspiration from the generation before, if you want to do their style properly you have to do the same and go back at least 1 ideally 2 generations before your favourites and watch from there. This isn't Rick and Morty fan high IQ bullshit, it's basic understanding of context and development of narrative and performance techniques. AEWs roster and booking just badly ape the isolated, contextless content they enjoyed as teens trading tapes or uploads, without actually putting in the work to learn structure and context.
Shibata or Suzuki does the same in AEW, because that's what he's paid to do. Tony wants the bastardisation because he is unable or unwilling to understand that that isn't the original.
