The worst WrestleMania night that I have seen in years. Compared to 39 and 38, this WrestleMania night felt so underwhelming..
Rhea vs Becky was mid. Whether you're talking about it from a technical standpoint or a storytelling standpoint, nothing in this match hit. Boring and uneventful for a boring and uneventful title reign.
The six pack ladder match was fine. Awesome Truth came through and there were plenty of fun spots. That is the most positive thing that I am going to say about tonight.
Next up is Rey and Andrade versus Dom and literally who in a match that I could see no one feeling engaged by. The highlight of the match was Joaquin doing a Harlem Globetrotters trampoline jump off the rope (captured with the worst possible camera angle) and football players that have no fucking stake in this business showing up to help the faces win the match? What?
Jey can't even have a good match with Jimmy? This guy's supposed to be a main eventer? On what planet?
Queens vs Damage CTRL was as much of a piss break match as could have been hoped for. Asuka is now 0-7 at Mania lol
Sami vs Gunther was my expected MOTN. I love both of these mfers like you wouldn't believe. I was willing to let go of the fact that like many of the matches on this night, the story build for it was terrible. I love these guys too much. And naturally, they put on a snoozefest that ends with damn finisher spam bullshit that everyone rails on if it's hosses, but now everyone's gunshy with the former NXT darlings. Disappointing end to the title reign of the best pure wrestler in the fed.
And then the Bloodline Main Event. This match was such a long slog that it became comical. Its length, its absurdity and hilarious ending were enough for me to at least have fun with it. And maybe I shouldn't be too tough on it knowing that Roman is battling leukemia and The Rock is clearly someone who just doesn't have it anymore. Even so, it's a WrestleMania Main Event. Should I not expect more?
