It didn't work for the reasons I mentioned in AEW. It worked in WWE, is working now, will grow stale later - you'll never catch 100% support. I didn't say people would just turn on Cody tomorrow and I didn't say people don't like retro characters but like Dijak said, it has an expiration date without change. A new baby face will pop out. Lemme break it this way:
With Roman, people actually forget how much longevity the Sami arc brought into it - it changed the way people saw Reigns and made him a more sympathetic villain because he was personally slighted instead of just a behemoth rolling over opponents. That's what made it really good for me at least
