Cardona is literally at his peak right now, he couldn't possibly have done better than his indie gimmick. He's not top guy in wwe material

Ziggler could have left in 2016 and had a legitimate run in the independents while it was hot, but he chose money, and now he's doing it 8 years too late and no one cares. He joined TNA literally as they pulled the plug on the scott damore run, so they have little momentum. Even if he wins the tna and aaa titles, while njpw global champion, there really isn't anyone to work with that would blow people away with.

Matt found his niche and had a good run with the nick gage stuff and getting all the indy belts, but that course has run dry and his big return to a major promotion was wasted on a yummy open challenge on fucking collision and he lost, so he's going to have to find something new to reinvigorate himself.

Cody left at the right time and attached himself to the right people. Ryder and ziggler waited too long

Don't forget Drew. He, Cody and Cardona are all 38. Drew and Cody left to reinvent themselves in the indies. Ziggler and Cardona didn't, until it was too late. Sometimes you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone, their time in the indies probably made the WWE reevaluate their worth.

Cody listened to Punk and realised that Vince McMahon's brass rings were imaginary so he went out and bet on himself. Ziggler, as much as I love him, chose the safer option even though it put a ceiling on him and either convinced himself he could will his way into the main event scene (ignoring the failures of everyone else before him) or made peace with making stacks of cash to be a midcarder.

Ryder was a solid midcard act who was crazy over (fans drowned out Rock's return with WE WANT RYDER) and was punished for it. He should have walked during that Cena/Kane feud but he's having a great time now.

Ziggler could have had Cody's success if he left earlier but he didn't bet on himself like Cody did. He floundered in WWE for most of a decade before finally being released.

Cody was always spoke highly of. He was an internet darling in the late 00s and early 10s, a guy everyone thought would be a big deal someday. Well here we are and he's the face of the company.

For better or worse Cody just refused mid card for life status going so far to change companies if need be.
Don't think it hurt that between himself, his brother, and his dad he has connections and contacts all throughout the business.

Literally everyone was saying he needs to leave and go to New Japan to join the BC. It would have been perfect since AJ was in his final year of his deal.

Instead, they said they would get him in movies and he could do his standup. He re-signed, got 1 shitty WWE movie, did his terrible standup, and was treated like a jobber for the best 8 years.

I watched AEW for the first time in years when I heard that Cardona was on it for a match. It was a great match too. Apparently AEW is, AGAIN, not signing him, so I will not be tuning in to AEW again.
