Roman's gimmick lasted WAY too long. If they were gonna put the belt on Cody, it should have been at last wrestlemania, not this one. Also, the setup should have been where we see Roman's backup getting beat up in the back stage preventing them from helping him, not how it went down. That's the difference between "Cody won thanks to no interference between him and Roman" and "Cody won thanks to Seth Rollins, John Cena, and the Undertaker". So now we are stuck with this sort of pseudo champion, kinda like with how the money in the bank wins are. Where someone gets a belt, but the how is so fucked up you can't tell if they earned it or not really.
The good news that came out of this though, is that now, Cody is a blank slate, so they could build up ANYBODY to be a threat to him.
Honestly, with how long Roman had the belt, I thought they had some sort of contract that was like this:
>Roman: "I am cancer free now, but, the doctors told me I likely won't live past 6 or 7 more years, so I have stipulations on returning"
>WWE: "Ok? What are they?"
>Roman: "I want to be champion, and NOT lose it until I have to RETIRE"
>WWE: "wat, uh, ok, yeah sure, that's not too long, deal"
That's how it felt anyways. Think about it, how many times has Roman fought someone they clearly could have put the belt on, only to go "naw, lets try someone else"?
Personally, if I were writing this, I'd go with a villain, even worse then Roman, that beats Roman with even worse cheating. Maybe like a rivalry between judgement day and the bloodline.
