It was terrible, I have to agree. Why would you cut a promo on a guy who doesn't even work in AEW? It's not leading anywhere. Like fuck me, AEW is obsessed with WWE. You actually have to watch WWE to understand AEW,. because in a sense, what WWE is doing on weekly TV absolutely factors into AEW storylines. In what world does that make sense? If/ when AEW does cease to be a thing, I truly do believe this episode of Dynamite will be looked back at as a key moment in its downfall. Much in the same way "The finger poke of doom" is often referenced for WCW.

As far as whether or not he punched him I honestly can't tell from the footage whether it was a punch or a shove, same with how his headlock looked there's very few frames where the headlock isn't obscured by other people

WCW was fine in 2000 until April 10 when they did that horrible "reboot" episode of Nitro where they made all the titles vacant. Russo and Bischoff should have been feuding not aligned (just like in 2002 when they had McMahon and Bischoff embrace instead of being rivals initially). It went off the rails at the BATB but that's mainly because they lost Hogan. If Hogan came back, he could've fixed it

Yeah, back in November when CM Punk got a new job and AEW tried to make a deliberate move towards refreshing their style with the Continental Classic. It just worked out better for Punk than AEW so AEW has to dredge up the past and go backwards.
