Ring of Honor knew to stay in it's lane and if it'd had someone who actually cared about it enough with some money could've been in a better place since it wasn't trying to go toe to toe with WWE like TNA was trying to do.

Unfortunately it also produced an entire generation of workrate marks who left a stain on the business that will take time to go away

Ehh. Maybe. PWG in its original incarnation was just an audition tape for the owners to get more booking. ROH is a place they would have taken work from but I’m sure they were happy with the handful of czw, Canadian and European dates they got.

I don’t love the first year of ROH but it showed a great understanding of how to work with a younger roster. Something was right there for Tony khan to pick up on but didn’t.
The whipwreck trainees only work with whipwreck trainees and the same with the Shawn Micheal’s students. And then as they got more experience they were allowed to intermingle.
Frankly, you can put the Joe/Jay cage match against any cage match ever and it’s up there with the best. Punk and Raven were top tier sports entertainment. And Jimmy Rave was one of the best heels of the 2000s. Never had a bad feud.
Some of you need to stop being mad at stuff that happened 20 years ago that you’ve never even watched.

Tony is a fake fan. Moxley was never a death match guy. His two big death matches were a comedy match and one where he ran around after assuring everyone the weapons were fake. But Tony assumed czw means death matches.
He didn’t know what song Onita came out to.
And just by what ends up on television you can tell he’s a sports entertainment mark he just knows if he puts on 20 minute matches he gets kudos online.

Yep, it wasn't pretending to be anything else than what you got, but the wrestlers were doing their absolute best to get you to believe in them. Pre-Twitter wrestling was max comfy. The fans were genuinely invested (and were a lot healthier too kek).
