>>14215375Not to throw gas on something entirely hypothetical but Kenny was a jiu jitsu tournament player for years before he got into wrestling and while he never fought professionally he was amateur in MMA and has a bunch of fights (won most by KO/TKO and actually took a loss to legend Don Frye apparently). He’s gone on record to say the beginnings of him considering pro wrestling as a career was realizing in both his jiu jitsu tourneys and amateur fights he would feel incredibly disappointed in himself if he won by decision win or lose and was more concerned with how entertaining he was than whether he won. Realized he was probably going to get seriously hurt by an actual killer if he tried to pursue MMA as a career with that mindset (“if I got in there with a Wanderlei Silva I could really get hurt [thinking like that]) in his own words). He had this whole stretch before he started pro wrestling so that was around 2000. I say that to say Kenny has more experience in grappling and fighting as far as number of fights and training camps than Punk has. If you watch Kenny do any of his jiu jitsu guard spots or just watch him grapple he MOVES like a guy who’s been doing jiu jitsu for a long time.
People joke about how goofy and laid back Kenny is but lowkey Kenny could probably shoot fuck Punk up if he wanted. Bigger, faster, stronger, more athletic, more grappling experience in a competitive tournament setting, more fights under his belt.
Anywho didn’t mean to jump on the wagon but pre-wrestling Kenny being a jiu jitsu and amateur MMA guy doesn’t get brought up often and it’s applicable to this.
