The Bray Wyatt character never really got a big win to legitimize how well he sold being an intimidating creep. Beating Taker would have been huge for his career but knowing that he wanted to do this creepy swamp cinematic universe with The Fiend and Uncle Howdy and Peppy the Witch all along, it's probably better he never got that boost.

Bray was a shitter, but actually made sense in kayfabe. UAMFBN was the spooky supernatural guy who got a magic powerup at wrestlemania because of all his blood sacrifices. Brock was kind of in a rut by that point too. He had to put over Cena, put over HHH and go toe to toe with Punk at his worst condition. Brock needed the streak to get that shot in the arm and be reborn as the beast incarnate once again. Bray should have never been a spoopy guy anyway, he was great and perfectly fine as the cult leader. I guess they felt that Taker's time was coming to an end so they needed a replacement but Taker is a once in a lifetime gimmick and somehow they made it work for decades when by all rights it should have died on its ass.
