It's not that Tony Khan is a moron or doesn't understand, it's that he's already spent hundreds of millions of dollars trying to convince fans that HIS style of wrestling presentation is superior - and he's prepared to spend hundreds of millions more to prove his point.
I fully support this idea, and despite my criticisms, I continue to watch many hours of AEW programming because the alternative likely sucks. I'd rather see Tony lose $50M/year on AEW for the next few decades instead of buying another superyacht or flying to Mars or some shit.
Succeed or fail, Tony will always be looked at as a hero in the indy scene for throwing so much money at people who clearly don't deserve it, including paying uninjured performers to sit at home sulking for months at a time.
AEW is not a serious business. It is a non-profit Wrestling charity and philanthropic effort.
