He's seemed a little distant from AEW in recent years in terms of the tit for tat stuff that others are engaged in.
He's obviously one of AEWs highest paid stars and he isn't earning that level of money now.
He's injured and will need to work a safer and more structured style going forward.
And one of the big reasons that people go to WWE late in their career is that WWE is too big to fail. AEW or TNA might disappear but WWE will still be here, paying out residuals and image rights long into his pension age. There's a stability of post career income that doesn't exist elsewhere.
It makes sense to both AEW and WWE that he move now. The only thing I would be concerned about in terms of blocking the deal, is Khans who may not allow him to lose another "top star" to WWE so shortly after the Punk fallout. But it's a good move for AEW in business terms.
