However this allegory also represents a state of being/awareness in which the person goes beyond the thinking mind (which tends to build narratives without questioning anything) and then the person can see that everything in life is symbols which make us feel emotions and think thoughts.
If a person manages to get to this state then yes, he will feel loneliness, real loneliness, for he is now in a different state of being than most of the other people around him.
