Per Ibou of Wrestlepurists:
>WWE’s months-long run of sold out shows has come to an end and, with it, comes new concern about the future of the company. Smackdown emanates from Pittsburgh PA this Friday and there are currently thousands of tickets still available, a far cry from the almost instant sellout a few months ago at the same arena. In addition, TV ratings for all 3 major shows have dropped since Mania ended. Although this isn’t unusual in itself, the drip has been “concerning” for a lot of people backstage.
>HHH presented a plan to TKO officials months ago that he claimed would increase viewership and ticket sales post-Mania and remove the normal slump that always occurs. Unfortunately, this plan also involved him signing 3 major names - Ospreay, Tanga, Mercedes - and having The Rock as WWE champion. Only one of those signings happened and plans changed with regards to the Rock.
>Although the shows are still relatively profitable it’s obvious that there’s been an alarming drop in interest since Mania ended.
