Austin had the drive to be great and grew up actually watching wrestling as a fan. You can say he spent some time in the territories, but he was pretty much on tv right from the start. Stunning Steve was him trying to play a character, but even in the USWA and WCCW promos you can see Stone Cold is in there. He was naturally talented, didn't quit when times go tough, and Stone COld hit at the right time. Today's jabronies can't compete.

He was mega fucking creative for a wrestler. Amalgamated all sorts of pop culture shit on top of the Texas redneck gimmick. Took inspiration from Bruce Willis, Woody Harrelson, serial killer interviews. He put the fucking work in like an actor would. Wrestling is a bubble and most wrestlers aren't watching or reading different shit to take inspiration from. Everyone just wants to play variations on the Joker, Harley Quinn or the Riddler
I'm extremely pro-good matches but it's obvious that wrestlers are studying too much in-ring tape and not enough of acting and actors. It makes them better in the ring too.

He'd mouth off cuss-words on the way to the ring cause that would make him look like didn't care. Everything about everything he did was propped up into enhancing the "Stone Cold" persona.
In other words, he was "real" whereas cartoon cardboard cut-outs like Seth Rollins dancing to the ring feels phony

The best wrestlers are usually guys that turn up their real personalities up to 10. Most wrestlers nowadays are acting like someone who isn’t really them which is lame and doesn’t get over. Rhea for example is a whore in real life and her gimmick is that turned up to 11 which is why she’s so popular compared to the other female wrestlers who pretend they’re not whores in real life
