The best version of it was when he first debuted it and he was just supposed to be delusional and silly and he was annoying his wife with his wrestling shit. Especially that promo where his wife's like "this has gone too far, i'm taking the kids".

When it's played straight, it's kind of stupid and doesn't work. He's not supposed be be an actual spooky character like Undertaker, the character is that he's a guy pretending to be a spooky character. It's more nuanced and WWE doesn't get it.
