Hogan was good enough to become a puro legend in his day, the top gaijin of the mid 80s neck and neck with Terry Funk. His ring work was pretty good. He really moved in Japan for a guy his size but he was still young and had that spring in his step.
Axe Bomber was massively over, right up there with Hansen's Western Lariat as far as Japanese finisher power levels go. Similar to Hansen against his highest power level opponenets, it typically took 2 to put a guy away, so the first one always made for a really exciting kickout. Guys still do this, like Naito with the running Destino before hitting the proper one.
