First and second heat have a different purpose. First heat is to get the heel over as evil and create doubt that the babyface can overcome the heel's cheating. Second heat is to sell that the babyface's body is failing him - pain, fatigue etc and his career might even be in jeopardy.

Severity and magnitude. The heel can cut off the shine with something as simple as an eye rake. When the heel cuts off the first hope spot, it should be a big heel move.

Yep. There's a saying that the first heat is for the heel (to get the heel over as evil), and the second is for the babyface (to make the crowd fear that the face will lose and maybe be seriously injured)
