Estimated number of tickets distributed (not sold). Uses some algorithm to the determine what comes/goes on the major ticket broker sites. Never has an idea of actual sold number, actual box office per event.

>PPV buys

None of the major streamers/PPV services release these numbers. Dave gets them from AEW.

>revenue/financials

AEW doesn’t have to report this as they are private. No one has ever seen their audited financials outside of the company. No one on the outside really knows what the numbers are. For sure…Shad gave Tony $100m as inheritance, which was used as seed money and their basic contract with the network.

>valuation

Complete nonsense. No one has seen the numbers, the Forbes guy was completely wrong on the Bellator sale based on his valuation (it was roughly 1/2 and involved no cash) and using some multiple based on WWE is ridiculous.

Cable has taken a beating for the past five years (SEC and analysts agree). The overall cable subscriber population is down 20%. Way more options.

However, Nielsen started capturing live streaming numbers years ago. YouTube TV for example, has grown rapidly, to the point they are 3rd behind two large cable companies in live tv subscribers. Its growth has made up for a good amount of the cable tv losses.

In other words, when you see someone talk about cable cord cutting being the main factor in a rating decrease, just know they are cherry picking statistics or have no clue about data.

To sum up, be smarter. Get a clue. Brandon from Wrestlenomics does good work but it’s basically just guesstimating outside of WWE’s SEC reporting.
