AJ isn't really hot right now and his feud with LA, while promising, didn't quite deliver, and his lackluster match for first contender didn't boost him. Cody however, just took a belt after a 2 year """""long term booking"""""" from a 4 year champion. The only way they're taking this damn belt off him is if he drops dead. So they can at least work an injury angle to get the audience invested and think he has a real chance to lose despite working so hard for it. Even if he's shoot hurt, AJ's a veteran and can work around it. Cody would definitely have to be taken out of house shows though if it's a shoot, they'd be fucking stupid to keep running him if he's hurt.
