>>14464033I'll give an example of 2 matches from Collision:
Rey Fenix (w/Alex Abrahantes) defeats The Beast Mortos (15:11)
Rush defeats Martin Stone (2:19)
Fenix/Mortos was about 9 minutes too long and Rush was about 4 minutes too short. Fenix isn't going to be in a Single's program, so why the long singles match? Let him do some cool moves, show he's back to full strength, get the win. For Rush, he could have had Angelico, Tony Nese, there's a lot better talent you can put him in there with. Bryan Keith can recover from losing to Rush in 6 minutes. Trust me, his life won't be ruined, people won't throw fruit at him when he's in public, he'll live.
You chop those matches down and now you have 5 minutes to work with. Killswitch/Nick Wayne walking around backstage, Johnny TV approaches and goes "Hey guys, where's Christian? heh heh" and keeps walking.....Killswitch grabs him from behind and beats the shit out of him. You're building Christian, you're giving Killswitch a match, you're checking several boxes that need checking instead of everyone treading water. Instead we got Mortos jobbing in 15 minutes instead of 6.
More than better booking, AEW needs purpose.
