That’s revisionist history. Cena wanted to turn heel around his feud with the Rock but Vince pulled the plug at the last second. I think Cena even got gear made for his new turn and made a new song

The Cena babbies grew up to be today's smarks. Imagine the most terminally online zoomer wrestling fan - has a Cagematch account, listens to contrarian podcasts, etc. 9 times out of 10 that guy adores John Cena and will talk your ear off about MITB 2011, the US title open challenge, or how the Umaga match is a masterpiece. Thinks Cena going over Brock in 2012 was the right booking decision. Will call Cena the greatest American ACE and fantasy book a dream match between prime Cena and prime Tanahashi.
Anyway, most of those fans love Cody Rhodes, and WWE has been particularly hot with that demographic since Triple H took over and stood by the Garganos and Dunnes of the wrestling world. It's a completely different landscape from 10-15 years ago.

Nope, I hated Cena back then because I was a jaded teenager without a clue. I would've hated Hogan too. That just means I was a contrarian who didn't understand what the business is about.
