He came back as a smiling, happy babyface that had let go of his past as the Fiend despite how much he enjoyed wearing the mask and hurting people. He was haunted by Uncle Howdy who week after week told him he was full of shit and was going to go back to being a mask wearing Fiend. As the weeks went on Bray went from smiling happy babyface to snapping at crew members and attacking camera guys for getting in his face. He went from telling the fans he loved them to berating them for ever thinking he was Uncle Howdy. If that wasn’t bad enough, he had LA Knight disrespecting him and making fun of him every chance he got. Then Howdy debuted and attacked Bray, and that’s when Bray snapped, the Funhouse came back to life (complete with dusty cobweb funhouse appearing clean and full of the puppets again.) Bray was back to being the same kind of monster he was before leaving and as we saw in the documentary it was going to lead to the Fiend coming back.
At the same time, Howdy was taunting Alexa the same way. Bringing Lily back in to her life and goading her back into relapsing into being the manic pixie dream girl type.
Howdy was the heel who preyed on bad people trying to rehab themselves by causing them to relapse back into their habits. They were junkies, he was the dealer and they were under his thumb to get their fix.
And the only part of this that wasn’t directly shown on TV was the reveal that Howdy was Bo and was doing all this out of jealousy for not being as successful. Howdy was Bray’s childhood nightmare. Bray’s song lyrics spelled out Bo’s intentions for him and Bray even brought up being a Rotunda and how competitive they all were at wanting to be the best in his return when he promo’s in Saudi.
