I think SR3 was the level they should've stopped at. Your still the Saints but the stuff you do is turned up to 10 in terms of wacky shit. While 4 was fun enough to play i thought the whole becoming president and fighting aliens thing was a bit off. Just didn't feel like Saints Row anymore.

I never played the first two games so I don’t have that nostalgia for the original formula ruin 3 and 4 me. I really enjoyed both of them. Gat Out of Hell can go back to hell though. Literally just a DLC packaged as a standalone game

The mystery aspect was too scary for 7yo me, brother. Especially when you find the flattened bodies of the jobbers with flies buzzing around them. Had to get my older sister to play through that part. Still, by far the best section of the best jrpg released for that console generation.
