I think the issue is the ages. WCW had more people in their prime and AEW has a stacked roster but with many of the established being older

WCW easily, also most of the Legends AEW brought in had tenure in WCW, AEW has a great roster of indies, ex WWE guys, and New Japan guys but ultimately WCW's roster was white hot, AEW has a solid following but WCW managed to eclipse WWF which unless we're talking NXT, I don't think they'll do anytime soon
