Watch his matches. He makes matches look fucking 5 star with his moves, safety, and masterful selling.

Just recently the number 1 contender match with Jey Uso he made everyone in the match look way stronger than they actually are.
Just having a match with Ricochet makes a wrestler look better.

ricochet has legit evolved his game a lot but its gone unnoticed. he's a great seller now, he actually does a lot of good in ring storytelling on top of being a crazy spot monkey when he wants to. he's even added power moves to his game, his match with gunther was entirely built around him suplexing gunther and it was based

Focusing on making the other guy look good is a midcard mentality. If you're the best at putting other guys over, that's how they're going to use you. Ricochet is a shitter who's just happy to be there so I'm sure he doesn't mind. But you have to be a little selfish if you want a push. This is the same reason Ziggler was a jobber his entire WWE run. He put all his stat points into selling the other guys' moves.

He's a dork with no charisma. He's doing exactly what he should be doing and what he's good at, i.e. going out there and putting on great matches week after week. He hasn't shown that he can carry a storyline, but people pop for his random exhibition matches every week because the way he wrestles is entertaining. So that's what they have him do. It's called playing to someone's strengths.

Pre-taped segments, editing and cheating by having a fantasy kayfabe universe with Aztec gods, dragons, magical powers, people dying and resurrecting which translated to wrestlers also using these powers in the ring. This allowed wrestlers who wouldn't get over otherwise get over by playing Mortal Kombat-like characters. None of this would work in a live environment.
