I've been playing here comes the pain the last few days off and on. Playing as bork lesner. just had a storyline where vince tried to fire me and we had a match at bad blood for it. I won. now im debating getting the hard core championship and holding that for awhile.

Yeah. All of them from SD2 through HCTP had backstage areas you could move between but SYM is likely the one you're thinking where they overhauled the entire backstage

Each game had different areas. I meant overhauled more in the sense of what you were able to do. Like SYM had commercials and shit promoting the backstage brawling and throwing guys in dumpsters or lockers, or that whole boiler room with the ragdoll sell if you exploded off the pipes. That was all new in SYM

The rumor at the time was that AKI were 'expensive', yeah. Instead of having two studios making games for different platforms they decided to just split Yuke's in half and share resources so there was a Smackdown team and a Mania/DOR team. If you look at AKI post-WWE and compare that to Yuke's post-WWE, AKI clearly knew their worth and kept money rolling in with the Def Jam games and all that.

Wrestlemania X8 on the Gamecube was a rushed attempt at that and it came out terribly, though it found its own identity by the end of the series. Someone might be able to make an AKI clone someday but it's safe to say it won't be Yuke's lol

Warzone/Attitude had Blood, Commentary, and CAW years before the Smackdown series. But people then and now couldn't bother to learn the controls, so it's not remembered for how great it was.

Bitch, the first game I got with my Playstation in the icey Winter of '95 aside from the pack-in Ridge Racer was Wrestlemania the Arcade Game. What a massive step-up from SNES that I had been playing.
